INS Vikrant is the first aircraft carrier built in India and is currently in active service with the Indian Navy.
The construction of INS Vikrant was started on April 28, 2009 at Cochin Shipyard and was commissioned on March 4, 2018.
INS vikrant is 262 meters long and 60 meters wide. It has a displacement of 40,000 tonnes which makes it one of the largest warships in India. INS vikrant has a maximum speed of 30 knots (55 km/h) and can carry up to 18 helicopters including anti-submarine warfare helicopters like Kamov Ka-31 or Westland Sea King Mk 42B.
